Let's Google Some Black People

When you do a Google search for "black people" there are 771,000,000 entries per the search engine. When you choose the I'm feeling lucky box you get the site
black people love us.
That's nice.
The other day, I was watching a segment on MSNBC about the best place to work in America and guess where that was? Right, it was Google. They had chefs preparing lots of different mouth watering entrees for the staff, totally free. There were free massages in quiet dark rooms, for free. You could bring your dog to work. There was a free gym, you could get $5000 to purchase a hybrid vehicle and the list just went on and on. The employees there loved it. They were so loyal to Google and their jobs they thought nothing of pulling an all-nighter, all for the good of the company. They were happy and fulfilled, sublimely more lucky than the rest of us who have to work for paranoid cheap employers who expect us to know computers, have emotionally stable personalities, be superior customer service providers, be skilled and educated, and be happy to be paid $12 per hour. They give us closets for break rooms, and forget about a place to rest when you have a headache, let alone get a massage. Massages? Have you lost your mind? That's a good one.
Yes I have to admit I was envious of those happy young beautiful faces. Google gets a million applications a year which makes sense, since they have absolutely no competition anywhere in the world of work.
But one thing I noticed that didn't sit too well with me was the fact that there appears to be not one single solitary black person working there. The MSNBC news segment lasted several minutes and showed hundreds maybe thousands of employees and not one was black. There weren't any old people either, but that was understandable since old people don't know anything about technology, they are sort of hard on the eyes and the billionaire owners want their employees to be happy. There were plenty of white people and the new white people (Asians); but no black people. I don't know if there were any Hispanics either, but I will have to let a Hispanic blogger deal with that issue.
I was racking my brain trying to come up with an explanation for this. Maybe there are black people working there but they just were not shown. That seems kind of odd. If you were one of the most famous corporations in the world, being profiled by a major news outlet and you only had a few black people there; wouldn't you want to show them? Wouldn't you make sure they were in at least a few shots? I didn't see any black people.
Maybe this was filmed last year on Martin Luther King's Birthday or one of the days of Kwanza and all the black people just didn't happen to be there on that day.
Maybe your corporate offices are not on a bus line and it is hard for black folks to get there.
Maybe you received a threat from some white supremacist group that they will come and kill all of your black employees on the same day MSNBC showed up, just a coincidence really.
Maybe you have lots of black people they just all happen to be light skinned and/or biracial so they weren't noticeable in the wide angle shots of the employees.
Maybe all the black people were in the bathroom during the filming or getting one of those free massages.
Maybe there were plenty of shots of black employees but when the film was edited they just happened to be edited out.
There has to be some kind of logical explanation, otherwise it appears that Google, one of the richest corporations in America and without a doubt the best place to work, does not have any black people working there-- and don't have any problem with the rest of the world knowing it?
So to sum up Google has 771,000,000 black people on Google but none at Google?
Google, if you indeed have black people working there I would love to see a picture of the them, because they didn't make it to the NBC broadcast. I would love to be proved wrong and I will admit as much and show the pictures.
Black people want the good life just like everybody else and we want to work for the best employer in the world, too.
I will let the AARP deal with the lack of old people.

HI BDO!
I was just perusing some of the comments on Smirky the Jerky (smirkingchimp) and clicked on your site.
I love it! I cannot believe that Google...oh hell, who am I kidding. I can believe anything right about now! If they don't hire black people, isn't that against the law? I mean, color me stupid, but I thought discrimination died out in the 60's and 70's!?!
Wow. That sucks. And I mean really. I am not Black, or Asian or Hispanic. I am a Caucasian...but I hate hypocracy. Also, I despise our idiot President, and all in all, I really like your blog!!!
You are intelligent, witty and kinda smart-assed. You remind me of...me!
As bizarre as this sounds, I wish I still could work! I am a nurse, I make about $19.00-$20.00 an hour but I am now physically disabled, Hence, my newest career. Writing. And no, I don't get paid for it! It just keeps me from foaming at the mouth with boredom!!!!
Keep up the great blogging. Your article on the Presidents was facinating.
